The Bushcamp Company have succeeded in designing and building 6 bush-camps in this southern end of the South Luangwa National Park that all have a very different feel to them. This in my mind is not that easy to achieve but should be commended when done as well as this. Billimungwe is quite different again from all of it’s sister camps, the 4 rooms have a rustic feel to them, they are constructed of reed and thatch and the open sided central area sits beneath a stunning Winterthorn tree.
Perhaps the overwhelming feeling present in this camp is that of being “in the bush”, that of course could be said of any safari camp but Billimungwe has some stunningly tangled mahogany trees and a wonderful waterhole that just seem to suck you in. Whilst most Luangwa camps have an obvious watery fee to them this camp is an exception and I like it because of that fact.
As usual walks and drives are on offer and your host / guide Manda Chisanga has an international reputation, he has won many accolades and all well deserved, he certainly is one of Zambia’s better guides.
