The latest addition to the high-end offerings of the Luangwa Valley opened its doors in April 2025. Chichele Lodge has commanded views from atop a hill south of the main Mfuwe area in the Luangwa, in one guise or another, since it was first built in 1972. This most recent manifestation has taken comfort and luxury in the bush to yet another level. The 10 rooms are excellently proportioned, fully air-conditioned and with large glass doors taking in the extensive views that their elevated position affords. A spacious deck, out-door shower and plunge-pool out front, completes your private suite and leaves you wanting for nothing.
As the camp is aiming to provide all those extras one wouldn’t expect in smaller bush-camps there is a gym over-looking a larger lap-pool as well as a well appointed spa with 2 treatment rooms. The central area is large enough for the 20 guests to retain their sense of privacy but, as with the rooms, they have not fallen into the trap of making everything “too big”.
The re-development project was overseen by the renowned design agency from South Africa, Fox Browne Creative, this is not their first Zambian project and we hope it will not be their last for they have delivered quality from the building designs through to the menu choices and the staff training to boot. As the camp is being managed by the Cumings family we have no doubt that the excellent levels of service delivery will continue as they have in their other camps; Puku Ridge in the Luangwa and Chiawa and Old Mondoro in the Lower Zambezi.
