Kafunta Lodge

Standard Rooms

Kafunta Lodge offers eight standard chalets, all slightly elevated and built from wood and thatch, positioned to take in views across the floodplains.

The chalets are comfortably set up with twin three-quarter beds, which can be converted into a super king, and there is space to add an extra single bed for a child if required.

Each chalet is en-suite, with a shower, double basin and toilet, and includes a private patio that provides a good vantage point over the surrounding plains.

Two of the chalets are located closer to the main lodge area, making them more suitable for guests with reduced mobility.

Guests staying in the standard chalets have access to the main lodge facilities, including the shared pool and hot tub.

These chalets are a solid option for guests looking for comfortable, well-located accommodation with good views and easy access to the main areas of camp.

Luxury Suites

Kafunta Lodge offers two Luxury Suites, set slightly further away from the main area and positioned to maximise views over the floodplains.

These suites are more spacious than the standard chalets and are designed with an open-plan layout. The main bedroom is located on the ground floor, with a king-size bed and a comfortable lounge area, while an upstairs loft provides additional sleeping space with one or two single beds, making the suites suitable for small families or groups of up to four guests.

Each suite includes a large en-suite bathroom with a bathtub, separate shower, double basin and toilet. Outdoor space is a key feature, with both a private ground-floor patio and an elevated balcony offering wide views across the plains.

The Luxury Suites are a good option for guests looking for additional space and a slightly more private setting, while still remaining within easy reach of the main lodge.

Sunset House

The latest addition to the Kafunta Portfolio, Sunset House, is an exclusive 2-unit 'house' near Kafunta River Lodge. Perfect for family reunions or intimate gatherings, it offers two units with spacious en-suite bedrooms, accommodating up to 9 guests. Enjoy breaktaking sunsets over Luangwa River from the comfort of the generously-sized swimming pool and expansive deck. With personalized services and private activities, you're able to tailor your experience to your preferences. Ideal for families with young children, multi-generational trips, or close-knit friend gatherings, Sunset House guarantees a memorable, bespoke getaway. Experience unparalleled privacy, flexibility, and service amidst Zambia's stunning wilderness.

The camp is set downstream on the Luangwa from the main Mfuwe area. There is a pontoon across the river situated close to camp which provides very convenient access to the Park during the peak safari months, the drive from the bridge is probably about half an hour making this a less attractive destination out of season when this journey would be included twice in each activity.

The rooms are raised on decks with wooden walls and thatched roofs, they are large and well designed. There was quite a lot of up-grade work carried out in 2019 with renovations done to the chalets and a re-designed deck around the infinity pool, the central bar and dining area has an open-air veranda and the pool is close by. The perspective of the camp is excellent with views over water holes and grazing lawns to the Luangwa River and Chichelle Hill in the background.

The rates are set slightly below most of its fully inclusive neighbours making it a very good option for many that are trying to keep costs down just a little. For even better value their package prices when the main camp is combined with their Island Bush-camp are very reasonable indeed.

There are 8 double chalets, and 2 luxury suites (which can sleep 4 people) so 24 beds in all.
