Mukwa River Lodge opened in 2022 and is located some 30 odd kilometres upstream from the Falls. It is a small, intimate camp comprising 4 River Facing Suites, 2 Island Suite and 1 Family Cottage all of which blend seamlessly into their natural surroundings.
Although the plot on which the camp is located is relatively small the creativity of its design is worthy of note, there is water seemingly flowing in all directions, the camp is built on the bank of the Zambezi but incorporates a lagoon as well so water is an ever-present element of your stay. The creativity behind the design of the camp is over-shadowed only by that which has gone into the composition of the menu for each and every meal, using largely locally sourced ingredients the meals and their presentation surpass anything I have experienced in Zambia before.
The design, the food, and the ambiance are all testimony to the passion exuding from the owners who travel from their home in South Africa to spend as much time as they can in the camp, their attention to detail is clear to see in all aspects of your stay.
And from a slightly more factual perspective, each suite is equipped with a private plunge pool, terrace, outdoor showers, mini-bar, Nespresso coffee machine, air-conditioning, and Wi-Fi.
