Royal Zambezi Lodge is a little larger than most camps in the area, offering 15 rooms in total (all with Wi-Fi), made up of a combination of Deluxe and Presidential Suites.
The Deluxe Suites are spacious and well appointed, with king-sized beds, private decks and verandas overlooking the river, along with their own plunge pools. They offer a good level of comfort and work well as a base for exploring the Lower Zambezi.
The Presidential Suites are a step up in both size and finish, at around 156 square metres. These include a separate lounge area, larger en-suite bathrooms, outdoor showers, copper baths, private salas and plunge pools. They are more refined overall and suited to those looking for additional space and a higher level of comfort.
There is also a family option within the Deluxe category, made up of two interconnecting units (rooms 6 and 7) with a shared outdoor lounge area and plunge pool, accommodating up to four or five guests comfortably.
The lodge is located just outside the western boundary of the Lower Zambezi National Park and is generally well priced for the level of accommodation on offer. Access is straightforward, with Royal Airstrip situated just a few hundred metres behind camp. It is also possible to reach the lodge by road from Lusaka to Chirundu, followed by a boat transfer, which takes approximately 4 to 4.5 hours in total.
Facilities at the lodge include a well-established spa with indoor and outdoor treatment areas, as well as a steam room and Jacuzzi.
A full range of Lower Zambezi activities are offered, including game drives, walking safaris, boat cruises, canoeing and fishing.
